Hacker group Anonymous Philippines took over Maine Mendoza’s Twitter account early Tuesday morning making promises to return the account to its rightful owner.

The first tweets said: “#AnonPH #Anonymous #MillionMaskMarch #MMM2k15”, promote promote an anti-corruption protest dubbed the Million Mask March.

The third tweets said: “Sorry po if napadaan kami sa account ni yayadub, ibabalik din namin to sa tunay na may-ari…” read a tweet on Maine’s account from hackers claiming to be from Anonymous Philippines.

(We’re sorry if we’ve dropped by the account of Yaya Dub, we will return this to the rightful owner.)

It was followed by a tweet promoting Facebook page of Anonymous Philippines.

Anonymous Philippines is a group of hackers who has defaced government websites to express its opinion on sensitive issues in the Philippines. It has been perpetrating cyber attacks in the country, pushing for freedom of expression and other Internet issues.

Other than the Ombudsman’s official page, at least 37 other government websites were hacked.

Best known for her viral Dubsmash videos and her role as Yaya Dub in the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga!’s Kalyeserye segment airing on GMA Network and worldwide via GMA Pinoy TV, Maine has taken social media by storm. After she was accidentally paired with Alden Richards forming the love team AlDub, the ratings of Eat Bulaga! were further increased and Mendoza as well as Richards’ popularity became phenomenal.
