A magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook Davao Occidental Sunday, September 29, the Phivolcs said.
The earthquake struck at 10:02 a.m. approximately 130 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental with a depth of 60 km.
The tremor was tectonic in origin, Phivolcs said.
The quake was at Intensity IV in General Santos City.
It was felt at Intensity III in Tampakan, South Cotabato; Kidapawan City; Makilala, and Magpet, Cotabato; Davao City; Magsaysay, and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur; Panabo City; Gingoog City, and Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental; Damulog, and Kalilangan, Bukidnon.
Meanwhile, the quake was felt at Intensity II in Cagayan de Oro City; Balingasag, Jasaan, and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental; Kabacan, M’lang, and Tulunan, Cotabato; Columbio and Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.
It added that damage to a structure is not expected, but aftershocks are not expected.
Meanwhile, the Davao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is checking if anyone was hurt or any damage occurred, according to a report by Rodel Natad of RGMA Davao on Dobol B sa News TV aired on GMA News TV.
