The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Medicine conducted the physician licensure examination (PLE) in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, and Davao on September 7-8 & 14-15, 2019.

The members of the Board of Medicine who gave the licensure examination are Dr. Eleanor B. Almoro, Chairman; Dr. Edgardo T. Fernando, Dr. Clarita C. Maaño, Dr. Eleanor J. Galvez and Dr. Ma. Graciela Garayblas-Gonzaga, Members.

The four-day board exam covered topics from Biochemistry; Anatomy and Histology; Microbiology and Parasitology; Physiology; Legal Medicine, Ethics and Medical Jurisprudence; Pathology; Pharmacology and Therapeutics; Surgery and Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Rhinology; Medicine; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Pediatrics and Nutrition and Preventive Medicine and Public Health.

RESULTS OF SEPTEMBER 2019 PHYSICIAN LICENSURE EXAMINATION OUT

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Thursday, September 19, that 4,006 out of 4,716 passed the Physician Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medicine in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Davao this September 2019. The result of examination with respect to one (1) examinee was withheld pending final determination of her liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examination.

The members of the Board of Medicine who gave the licensure examination are Dr. Eleanor B. Almoro, Chairman; Dr. Edgardo T. Fernando, Dr. Clarita C. Maaño, Dr. Eleanor J. Galvez and Dr. Ma. Graciela Garayblas-Gonzaga, Members.

The results were released in four (4) working days from the last day of examination.

From September 23 to October 4, 2019, registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be done on-line.  Please go to https://online.prc.gov.ph and follow instructions for initial registration.  Those who will register are required to bring the following: downloaded duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, notice of admission (for identification only), 2 pieces passport sized pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of documentary stamps and 1 piece short brown envelope.  Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees in the said examination WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER.

Release of September 2019 Physician Board Exam Results

Per PLE schedule and updates, the release date of September 2019 Physician Board Exam results is September 19, 2019 (Thursday) or in four (4) working days after the last day of said physician licensure examination (PLE).

Registration of Passers

Those who will register are required to bring the following:

  • duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
  • current Community Tax Certificate (cedula)
  • 1 piece passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag)
  • 2 sets of documentary stamps
  • 1 short brown envelope with name and profession

Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

Oathtaking of Passers

The date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees in the said examinations WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER.

Physician board exam verification of ratings (passers, non-passers and removal) can be done online. Visit PRC’s “Verification of Rating” service and enter the required information to verify your identity. Note that this can be available in few days after the exam.

24 ranked Best Medical Schools in the Philippines for 2018

The ranking of the best medical schools in the Philippines for 2018 has been released, which qualified 24 of the 53 colleges and universities offering medicine programs.

The University of Santo Tomas landed as the top medical school in 2018 with a 96.71 percent overall score. University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center followed with a 94.99 percent overall score while the University of the Philippines-Manila ranked third with 86.73 percent. These universities are currently Centers of Excellence for Medicine as declared by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The rankings are based on the results of two physicians licensure examinations this year plus other factors including level of accreditation and faculty-student ratio to find out which medical schools have the most valuable programs to produce a batch of examinees with high passing rate.

Top Performing Medical Schools in the Philippines for 2018

A total of 21 colleges and universities are among the top performing medical schools out of 53 in the 2018 aggregate data of physician licensure examinations with at least 50 examinees and above the national weighted passing rate of 77.88 percent.

Xavier University earned the No. 1 spot as top performing school in physician licensure examinations for 2018 with a 100 percent weighted passing rate from its 53 examinees.

The Cebu Institute of Medicine placed second with a 99.36 percent weighted passing rate from its 155 successful examinees out of 156 in 2018.

The University of the Philippines-Manila came in third place with a 98.06 percent from its 152 passers out of 155 examinees.

The University of Santo Tomas was fourth with a 98.02 percent weighted passing rate from its 495 successful examinees out of 505.

The fifth spot was St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial with a 97.94 percent weighted passing rate from its 95 passers out of 97 examinees.

March 2019 Physician Licensure Examination

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 1,209 out of 1,579 passed the Physician Licensure Examination administered by the Board of Medicine in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Zamboanga in March 2019. The results of examination with respect to three examinees were withheld pending final submission of the required documents.

The members of the Board of Medicine who gave the licensure examination were Dr. Eleanor B. Almoro, Chairman; Dr. Edgardo T. Fernando, Dr. Clarita C. Maaño, Dr. Eleanor J. Galvez and Dr. Ma. Graciela Garayblas-Gonzaga, Members.

The results were released in three working days from the last day of examination.

Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation was the top performing school in the March 2019 Physician Licensure Examination (PLE).

September 2018 Physician Licensure Examination

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 3,717 out of 4,542 passed the Physician Licensure Examination administered by the Board of Medicine in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Davao last September 2018.

Cebu Institute of Medicine was the top performing school in the September 2018 Physician Licensure Examination (PLE).

March 2018 Physician Licensure Examination

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 1,067 out of 1,601 passed the Physician Licensure Examination given this month.

Jerald Lalaguna Pelayo of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center topped the exams with a rating of 88.17 percent.

Jay Ruyeras Orehuela from Southwestern University-Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine came in second with 88 percent, while another UERM graduate, Lori Belle Mariano Lofranco, placed third with 87.08 percent.

Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation was the sole top performing school with an 89.29 percent passing rate. 

To be a top performing school, it has to have 50 or more examinees and with at least 80 percent passing percentage.
