The MMFF 2015 box office has earned a whopping P547 million in Day 5 of screening, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on its Twitter account.
The four top grossing films of this year’s film fest remain to be “My Bebe Love,” “Beauty and the Bestie,” “#WalangForever” and “Haunted Mansion.” It did not cite specific figures for each.
The film festival began Dec. 25, 2014 and will end next week, although some of the top grossers are expected to extend their run in theaters following next week.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, which is in charge of the yearly film fest, did not reveal the box office ranking of bottom four movies.
“All You Need Is Pag-Ibig,” “Buy Now, Die Later,” “Honor Thy Father” and “Nilalang” complete the MMFF 2015’s line-up of entries.
Unlike the previous years, the MMFF 2015 is full of major controversies, including alleged ticket-swapping issue hounded the MMFF on its opening day.
In a CNN Philippines report, some moviegoers said that when they bought tickets for My Bebe Love, they were given tickets for Beauty and the Bestie purportedly to reflect higher gross earnings for the Vice Ganda film.
The Metro Manila Film Festival also disqualified “Honor Thy Father” from the Best Picture category in the festival’s awards held last Sunday, December 27.
