Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur Official Local Candidates 2019 Midterm Elections

Two people are running for mayor of Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur in the coming 2019 local elections.

Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur: the mayor, vice mayor, the Congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts, on May 13, 2019.

Guipos, officially the Municipality of Guipos, is a 4th class municipality in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 20,729 people.

The town was officially established on October 7, 1991, by virtue of Republic Act No. 7159, signed by President Corazon C. Aquino. It was formed from barangays Guipos, Katipunan, Bagong Oroquieta, and Dalapang of the Municipality of San Miguel; barangays Datagan, Dagohoy, Balongating, Baguitan, Magting, Sikatuna, Dacsol, Guling, and Canunan of the Municipality of Dumalinao; barangays Lintum, Singclot and Litan of the Municipality of Dinas; and barangay Regla of the Municipality of San Pablo.

Guidelines for Verification

  1. The Certified List of Candidates (List), as posted, is merely an initial List and subject to editing.
  2. All candidates are enjoined to check their names, specifically their Names to Appear on the Official Ballot, in the List.
  3. Any request for correction, if allowed, shall be communicated to the Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisor, or Election Officer concerned in writing until 9 November 2018. The Election Officer shall in turn, submit a memorandum to the Law Department, by the fastest means of communication with regard to the request for correction.
  4. The Law Department shall determine whether or not the request for correction is allowed.
  5. The List is subject to the outcome of the various cases/issues pending before the Commission.
