Valencia, Negros Oriental Official Local Candidates 2019 Midterm Elections

Two people are running for mayor of Valencia, Negros Oriental in the coming 2019 local elections.

Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in Valencia, Negros Oriental: the mayor, vice mayor, the Congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts, on May 13, 2019.

Valencia, officially the Municipality of Valencia, is a 1st class municipality in the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 34,852 people.

It is located 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) west of Dumaguete City, the most populated city and capital of the province. The municipality was voted as “the greenest and cleanest” town of Negros Oriental in 2007.

Our Lady of the Abandoned is the patroness of Valencia, and her feast day is celebrated annually every October 12 with the town fiesta. The fiesta is an official non-working holiday for the town.

Guidelines for Verification

  1. The Certified List of Candidates (List), as posted, is merely an initial List and subject to editing.
  2. All candidates are enjoined to check their names, specifically their Names to Appear on the Official Ballot, in the List.
  3. Any request for correction, if allowed, shall be communicated to the Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisor, or Election Officer concerned in writing until 9 November 2018. The Election Officer shall in turn, submit a memorandum to the Law Department, by the fastest means of communication with regard to the request for correction.
  4. The Law Department shall determine whether or not the request for correction is allowed.
  5. The List is subject to the outcome of the various cases/issues pending before the Commission.
