#WalangPasok: Class Suspensions for September 13, 2017


Local government units in Metro Manila and other provinces have announced class suspensions for September 13, 2017 due to the expected impact of Tropical Depression Maring.

Tropical Depression “Maring” has made landfall over Mauban, Quezon at 9 a.m and is now traversing Laguna-Manila area.

It is now bearing winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 100 kph.

Metro Manila, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Northern Quezon incl. Polillo island, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Pangasinan, Laguna, and Southern Aurora have been placed under Storm Signal No. 1 as of 10 a.m., Sep. 12.

Moderate to heavy rains will continue to batter parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 11 a.m. update.

Tropical Depression Maring dumped rain all over Luzon on Tuesday, flooding major roads, stranding commuters, and forcing class cancellations and suspension of work in government offices and the courts.

PAGASA has issued an “orange” heavy rainfall warning in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas as of 11 a.m. This means flooding in the areas is “threatening.”

A “yellow” rainfall warning has also been raised over Metro Manila, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Zambales, Rizal, and Quezon. “Yellow” warns residents of possible flooding in low-lying areas.
