A number of local government units as early as Monday announced class suspensions for September 12, 2017 due to the bad weather brought by Tropical Depression #MaringPH.

The state weather bureau reported that the low pressure area (LPA) east of Southern Luzon has developed into a tropical depression and was named “Maring”.

At 4:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Depression “MARING” was estimated based on all available data at at 300 km East of Infanta, Quezon (14.8, 124.4). It has maximum winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.

Tropical Depression Maring is forecast to move west northwest at 13 kph.

Signal No. 1 was raised over some parts of Luzon as the low pressure area monitored by the state weather bureau has intensified into a tropical cyclone, the state weather agency said on Monday.

The storm signal was raised over Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Northern Quezon, Polilio Island, Aurora, Quirino and Nueva Ecija due to Tropical Depression “Maring,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Moderate to occasionally heavy rains starting today will be experienced over Bicol region, Aurora, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, and Pangasinan.

It is expected to make landfall tomorrow afternoon over Quezon-Aurora area.
