MANILA, Philippines – University of Santo Tomas-Legaspi emerged with two Top 10 Bar topnotchers in the recently released 2019 exam results. The said school bagged the first and third place in one of the most challenging professional exams in the country.
The said geniuses are Mae Diane Azores, who topped the bar with a score of 91.0490%. Meanwhile, the third placer was identified as Myra M. Baranda who garnered a mark of 88.8250%.
This incident breaks the drought of UST-Legazpi of top bar examinees. Throughout their history, they have only secured at most 1 alumnus rank among the top 10. However, this year, they have proven that they are also a cut above the rest, like other prestigious law schools.
“Ang thinking ng nasa province, siguro they would not be able to make it. So siguro mindsetting lang,” said the UST-Legazpi Law School Dean May Ailene Zamora in a correspondence with DZMM.

Zamora admitted that they have also considered tweaking their curriculum, in the past, to equip students for the exams. The alumni community also helped the bar takers prepare for the said exam.
The dean emphasized that the top 1 and 3 positions are not the only measures of a good lawyer. Zamora said that she believes that both students can make a difference because “they have a good heart to be a lawyer.”
Azores, who is now a newly passed CPA-lawyer said that she is planning to become a trial lawyer. “Gusto ko rin magdelve into labor law,” she said.

The topnotcher added that, “It’s a very risky area that lawyers should pay attention.”
