Four of the country’s universities made it into the Top 200 of the Quacquarelli Symonds 2015 Asian University Rankings released Wednesday.
State-run University of the Philippines was ranked 72, Ateneo de Manila University was 114th while the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and the De La Salle University (DLSU) were 143rd and 181-190th, respectively.
University of the Philippines slumped slightly, going from 63 to 72, while Ateneo improved from 115 to 114.
De La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas fell in their rankings from last year.
Although University of Santo Tomas fell in its ranking from last year, it’s the only school that received QS stars (4 Stars) after it was rated excellently in the following criteria: employability, facilities, social responsibility, and inclusiveness.
The ranking is based on several factors — academics, academic peer reviews, employer reviews, citations per faculty members, student-to-faculty ratio, and the number of international faculty and students.
The list was compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds which also compiled a list of the world’s top 500 universities.
According to its website, “QS is the leading global career and education network for ambitious professionals looking to further both their personal and professional development.”
It also said, “We are a medium-sized company with over 100 staff in offices throughout the world: London, Paris, Singapore, Shanghai, Boston, Washington DC, Johannesburg and Alicante.”
