2019 Top Performing Mechanical Engineering Schools in the Philippines

A total of 40 colleges and universities, 15 private and 25 public schools, are among the top performing mechanical engineering schools out of 183 in the 2019 aggregate data of mechanical engineer licensure examinations with 10 or more examinees and with at least 80% weighted passing rate. Under the 50 or more examinees category, the University of the Philippines-Diliman earned the No. 1 spot as top performing school in mechanical engineer licensure examinations for 2019 with a 97.09 percent weighted passing rate or 100 successful examinees out of 103.

A total of 5,466 out of 8,606 examinees passed the mechanical engineer licensure examinations in this year’s February and August schedules. The weighted national passing rate for the same period was 63.51 percent.

Firs-time examinees accounted for 6,459 with a total of 4,667 successful examinees or 72.26 percent passing rate of the same group or 54.23 percent of the total examinees.

Of the 2,147 repeaters, only 799 successfully passed the licensure examination in 2019 or 37.21% among the repeaters or 9.28% among the total examinees.

Malayan Colleges Laguna placed second with a 94.83 percent weighted passing rate from its 55 successful examinees out of 58.

The Batangas State University-Alangilan came in third place with a 93.90 percent from its 200 passers out of 213 examinees.

The Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas was fourth with a 92.17 percent weighted passing rate from its 200 successful examinees out of 217.

De La Salle University-Manila earned the fifth place with a 91.92 percent weighted passing rate from its 91 successful examinees out of 99.

The University of Santo Tomas placed sixth with a 90.45 percent weighted passing rate from its 142 successful examinees out 157.

The University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City earned the seventh spot with an 84 percent weighted passing rate from its 63 successful examinees out of 75.

Completing the top 10 performing mechanical engineering schools are the Tarlac State University (83.10% with 59 passers out of 71 examinees), Mapua University-Manila (82.64% with 119 passers out of 144 examinees), and Silliman University in Dumaguete City (81.48% with 44 passers out of 54 examinees).

10-49 Examinees and with at least 80% Passing Rate

Meanwhile, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Visayas State University-Baybay, Ateneo de Davao University, FEU-Institute of Technology, and Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas Inc., led the group of top performing schools with 15-49 examinees and with at least 80% passing percentage. The six institutions obtained a 100 percent passing percentage with 18, 17, 15, 13, 13, and 10 examinees, respectively.

Central Philippine University earned the second spot with a 97.06% weighted passing rate from its 33 successful examinees out of 34.

Negros Oriental State University-Dumaguete came third with a 92.85% weighted passing rate from its 26 successful examinees out of 28.

The University of San Carlos was fourth with a 91.11 percent weighted passing rate from its 35 successful examinees out of 38.

The fifth spot was the Central Philippine State University-Main with a 91.67 percent weighted passing rate from its 11 passers out of 12 examinees.
