2019 Best Electrical Engineering Schools in the Philippines - With Logos

A total of 49 colleges and universities are among the 2019 best electrical engineering schools in the Philippines out of 209 institutions offering undergraduate programs in electrical engineering.

The selection of schools was based on 10 examinees or more and with at least a weighted passing rate of 80 percent.

The University of Santo Tomas earned the No. 1 spot as the best electrical engineering school in the country registering an overall score of 94.48 percent based on overall board exam performance which includes the number of examinees and top-performing examinees, and other factors such as accreditation status of the school in electrical engineering, and faculty-student ration.

The Mapua University-Manila followed with an 87.79 percent overall score while the University of the Philippines-Diliman and Saint Louis University ranked third and fourth with an 87.50 percent and 85.27 percent overall scores, respectively. The University of Batangas landed fifth with an 83.05 percent overall score.

The University of Santo Tomas and Saint Louis University are both Centers of Development (CODs) for electrical engineering, as accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), while the University of the Philippines-Diliman and Mapua University-Manila are accredited as Centers of Excellence (COE) for electrical engineering.

Tarla State University earned the sixth place with an 82.92% overall score, while the Batangas State University-Alangilan garnered the seventh place at 82.64%. The eighth in the ranking was the University of the Philippines Los Baños at 82.50%, followed by the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, holding the ninth rank at 82.07%. Camarines Norte State College-Daet placed 10th with an 81.70% overall score.

To determine the 2019 best electrical engineering schools nationwide we took each school’s weighted average of percentage ratings of examinees who passed the electrical engineer licensure examinations in April and September this year. Note that the passing rates we used this year were similar to the PRC’s minimum rating of 80%, and a minimum of 10 examinees. Other factors of Local Pulse rankings are accessible here.

We then narrowed the list by incorporating crucial factors, such as the school’s total number of examinees for the year, and top-performing examinees. Finally, we looked at the accreditation status and faculty-student ratio of the schools. What we found after such extensive consolidation is the nation’s best schools to study electrical engineering, which only featured 49 out of the 209 colleges and universities offering undergraduate programs in electrical engineering.
