Here is a list of schools and areas where class suspensions have been announced for August 26, 2017, Saturday, due to heavy rains and strong winds brought by Tropical Storm Jolina.
Late afternoon some local government units announced the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools on Saturday.
As of 4 p.m. today, August 25, Tropical Storm Jolina is packing sustained winds of 61 kph up to 120 kph in at least 24 hours and is now threatening the province of Aurora.
The center of Tropical Storm “JOLINA” was estimated based on all available data at at 110 km South Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora (15.4, 122.6). Jolina is sustaining maximum winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 95 kph.
It is forecast to move West Northwest at 19 kph.
Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.
PAGASA said Jolina is expected to make landfall over Aurora this evening (6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m).
Meanwhile, moderate to occasionally heavy rains is expected over most parts of Luzon beginning tonight. Residents in these areas, especially those under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals 2 and 1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Sea travel is risky over the seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon.
