The No. 1 seeded De La Salle University Green Archers will look to fight off a challenge from the No. 2 seeded Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles in a massive UAAP Season 79 rivalry game on Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2016. The game will start at 4:00 p.m. Philippine Standard Time and takes place from the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. The action can be watched on TV on the ABS-CBN network, but can also be watched online through free live stream (details below).

La Salle come into this game with their undefeated record still intact, having gone 6-0 this season. They have made it through to the Round 1 following a solid victory over the University of the East Red Warriors on Wednesday after. Even though they were made to work for their win, they simply proved too powerful for the winless Red Warriors, who eventually succumbed 84-78.

They will be massive favorites to continue their unblemished record in Mall of Asia Arena today against a rivalry team who need to win this game in order to lift their Round 1 ranking.

The very first of its kind game, the rivalry team are expected to wear black clothes or accessories during the game today to “symbolically” express opposition to the growing number of alleged extrajudicial killings and the possible burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

CNN Philippines reported that Ateneo President Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin, SJ sent out a memo to the Atenean community inviting them to wear black to express “solidarity with victims of human rights violations and with all others struggling to uphold human rights in the country.”

Today’s big UAAP Season 79 basketball game between the Ateneo Blue Eagles and the La Salle Green Archers will start at 4:00 p.m. local time and can be watched on TV on the ABS-CBN network or online through free live stream by clicking here.
