Rose Fostanes is set to wave goodbye not to her job as a caregiver in Israel but to her skeptical thinking as an excellent singer after being named the winner of the first season of The X Factor Israel Tuesday night (Wednesday morning in Manila).
The 47-year old beat other 3 finalists to be crowned champion after receiving the most public votes in the closing showdown.
Rose admitted that she didn’t know what to say apart from that she is just a Filipino or other word for “cleaner” or “caregiver” in Israel. She didn’t realize and even think that the Israel crowd would love her and vote for her.
As revealed by ABS-CBN, at first, Fostanes said, she thought Israelis would not vote for a foreign worker and that she would be an underdog in the competition, in which viewers and a panel of judges comprised of four Israeli musicians determine at different stages which contender moves up and which gets dropped.
But, to her surprise, the votes, cast via text messages or on the show’s website, kept on coming in, and have catapulted Fostanes to celebrity status in Israel.
During the X Factor Israel live finale show on Tuesday night in Israel, Rose Fostanes performed the classic “My Way” popularized by Frank Sinatra and received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges.
